Daresbury Laboratory

Daresbury Laboratory is a scientific research facility based at Sci-Tech Daresbury science and innovation campus in Cheshire, operations started at the laboratory in 1962 but was officially opened in ’67. It is run by The Science and Technology Facility Council. It is globally known for its world leading research into bio-medicine, accelerator science, physics, chemistry, engineering and computational science.

The campus is one of two national science and innovation campus’, that support scientist, researchers and the industry by providing an area for research to be preformed to high standards. In 2009 the science park was awarded “Most Outstanding Science Park” at the UK Science Park Association.

Daresbury

Daresbury is a village in Cheshire, in the 2001 census it has a population of just over 200 people. It is some to the Science and Innovation campus but it is also the brith place of Lewis Carroll, famous for writing novels about Alice’s adventures in Wonderland, there is Lewis Carroll visitor centre attached to the parish church (All Saints Church) there are some stained glass windows that pay homage to Lewis and his famous characters in the books including the White Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat. It is also home to the dance music festival Creamfields which bring around 40,000 revellers to the area annually partying from 3pm – 6am with live performances and Dj sets through the days.
