The Rochdale Observer is a tabloid newspaper that is published twice a week, Wednesday and Saturday, and is sold in the Rochdale area. It has been the main newspaper of Rochdale since 1856 when it was founded, it is now published by the Greater Manchester Weekly Newspaper Group, that  is part of the MEN media group.

The edition on a Saturday has a larger circulation as it sells more than half of what the Wednesday edition sells. The Rochdale Observer pervious had its own subdomain but it is now hosted on the MEN website, this change happened in 20113.

Rochdale

Rochdale is a town in Greater Manchester at the foothills of the South Pennines, with a recorded population of over 211,000 (in 2011). In the 19th century as a mill town and a centre of textile manufacturing, meaning it was a boomtown during the industrial revolution, the Rochdale Canal was used to ship in/out the cotton, wool and coal, but like many of the other towns in the area by the 2oth century the industry declined.

Rochdale Town Hall is a grade I listed building from the Victorian Era and is built in a Gothic Revival style, it is said the Adolf Hitler liked the building so much that he wanted to have the building shipped brick by brick to Natzi Germany should he have defeated the UK in WW2. Rochdale has good transport links with an A road offering easy access to the M62 and Oldham, Rochdale canal that I mentioned earlier, rail and Metrolink tracks in the town and also a bus station with buses in and around the Greater Manchester area but also some to neighbouring counties like Lancashire and Yorkshire.
